Elkem Aluminium in Mosjøen, Norway produces 189,000 tons of aluminium per year and the corresponding volume of flue gases from the combustion process. Elkem employed Alstom to install a flue gas treatment plant and Alstom, in turn, contracted production of the fans to Flebu. The system first removes the particles and then disposes of the sulphurous smell. The system was successfully installed in 2001 and has run reliably ever since.
